It happens like clockwork, every year. Late-July and early-August roll around, and families’ focus’ start to shift from summertime fun to prep for the coming school year. When it comes to back-to-school, we’re often inundated with messages telling us what kids need to succeed for the year ahead: stylish new clothes, the latest superhero lunchbox, colourful notebooks and perfectly-sharpened pencil crayons, healthy and delicious grab-and-go snacks…the list goes on.

But what good are stylish clothes and accessories without good health?

As the seasons change and parents look for ways to give their kids a healthy head start for the school year, we’ve got two products that may help them reach their full potential and shine their brightest this school year.

Focus On: A Health Head Start, Daily
Little hands carry lots of germs, and growing immune systems are constantly being inundated, from the playground to the classroom, and beyond. While their bodies learn to rise to the challenge, sometimes they need a helping hand to keep them as happy and healthy as possible as they learn and grow.

It’s not always possible for kids to eat the right types and foods recommended to get the nutrients they need to grow and thrive. Introducing a kid-friendly supplement into their diet can be a key ingredient in helping them get and stay healthy.

Salus Kindervital contains all the key vitamins and minerals needed to support the overall health and rapid growth requirements of children, including a special focus on bone and immune health.

It was developed with a focus on upping the good stuff kids need, without the stuff they don’t. It contains key ingredients including calcium, magnesium and vitamins A, B, C, and D, to support growing bones and developing teeth, maintain immune function, and support overall good health.

Designed for easy absorption, Salus Kindervital’s easy-to-digest formula was made specifically with growing digestive systems in mind. Plus, this non-GMO, lactose-, alcohol-, and additive-free formula is sweetened with fruit juices, honey and unrefined maple syrup, so it tastes great.

Kindervital Multivitamin for children can empower parents to empower their kids, helping them grow up healthy and strong, and ready to take on the classroom, the playground and the world.

Focus On: The ABCs of EFAs and ADHD
Want to prep your kids for success in their ABC’s, and beyond? If you have school-aged children, there’s some key learning you should do for yourself to ensure they’ve got what they need to get there.

To help parents along that road, we’re breaking down some key info about EFAs, and why your kids need them.

EFAs – Essential Fatty Acids. EFAs are omega-3 and omega-6 nutrients crucial to brain growth and development. Lack of EFAs has been associated with mental and physical learning disorders like ADHD, dyslexia and dyspraxia.

DHA – Docosahexaenoic. DHA is the most important structural omega-3 fatty acid in the brain, and an important building block of the brain, nervous system and eyes. DHA is also the most abundant fatty acid in the brain.

AA – Arachidonic Acid. AA is the most important structural omega-6 fatty acid in the brain, and an important building block of the brain, nervous system and eyes. It also helps in the transmission of messages between nerves.

EPA – Eicosapentaenoic Acid. EPA is another important omega-3 fatty acid. Along with AA, it helps in the transmission of messages between nerves.

GLA – Gamma-linolenic acid. GLA is another important omega-6 fatty acid.

And, one more:
ADHD – Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. ADHD is a condition that becomes apparent in some children in the preschool and early school years. It is hard for these children to control their behavior and/or pay attention.

Now that you know the what, here’s the why, and how of it all, according to research that’s been done on infants and children:
– The supply of DHA and AA in early life is critical for good brain and visual development.
– Children with ADHD had lower than normal levels of DHA, AA and EPA.
– Children with the lowest levels of AA and DHA had the highest incidence and severity of oppositional behaviour, hyperactivity, cognitive problems, restlessness, and inattention.
– Children with ADHD may not be able to adequately convert dietary EFAs to their long chain DHA and AA forms.

The good news is that EFA supplementation can bring about a long list of benefits. Studies of well-balanced EFA supplements have shown that long-chain EFAs can improve behavioural, emotional and cognitive symptoms in children with learning difficulties and ADHD-related symptoms, enhance problem solving abilities, increase mental development, as well as enhance visual acuity and retinal function in dyslexics, and improve manual dexterity, balance and coordination in children with dyspraxia.

If you’re looking to supplement the EFAs that may be lacking in your child’s diet, choosing a formula that’s science-based and contains proven amounts of specific fatty acids is a good choice, as the nutrients they provide are not always readily available in foods. Some people also have difficulty digesting and converting food sourced EFAs into the important long-chain forms.

Efamol Efalex is a therapeutic, EFA supplement based on decades of extensive scientific research to ensure the right balance of DHA, EPA, GLA, and AA.

If you think a lack of EFAs is holding your child back, get informed and take action. Your efforts today can help them reach their full potential, and last a lifetime.
