Wake up and shake up with Organic MCT Oil

MCT is the short-hand for medium-chain triglycerides which, as the name suggests, contain medium-length chains of fatty acids called triglycerides. Because of their relatively shorter fatty acid chain length, it’s been reported that our bodies can absorb MCT oil faster and easier than long-chain triglycerides (LCTs), taking it directly from the gut to the liver where it gets broken down to be used.

Many active people – and those who follow a Paleo or Ketogenic lifestyle – choose to add MCT oil to their diet. Here’s a couple of things to check for when shopping for an MCT supplement:

  • Look for MCT oil that is certified organic. Make sure MCT oil is derived from organic coconuts to avoid harmful pesticides.
  • Does it have 100% MCTs? Some MCT oils may contain added palm oil or other fillers.
  • Look for the certified non-GMO logo – Nature’s Way is a proud supporter of the Non-GMO Project and uses only verified coconuts for its MCT oil
  • Check for capric and caprylic acid content. MCT oil should contain 90% capric and caprylic acid.

Because it’s flavourless and odourless, it’s easy to add MCT oil to pretty much anything for a quick MCT boost. We’ve included the recipe for our favourite wake-up boost below – give it a try and let us know what you think!
