BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT REPRESENTATIVE

Started in 1999, Health First Network has grown to over 110 Members supporting more than 150 locations across Canada.  We are Canada’s only non-profit buying and marketing group dedicated to supporting independent health and wellness retailers to thrive in a competitive marketplace. HFN Members are Canada’s premier independent health and wellness retailers who are the first and most trusted choice for natural, holistic health in communities from coast to coast.

Mission: The role is divided between an Inside Sales function: driving sales of the Health First brand, and a Customer Service function: supporting Members with their inquiries and support needs. 

Expected Outcomes: 

  • Drive Sales of HF brand and Vendor Products
    • Working with existing HFN Members to grow the brand sales. 
    •  Build and maintain strong Member relationships
    • Outbound phone calls to drive sales growth and revenue of Member accounts
    • Present product opportunities and follow up for orders and promotional deals
    • Learn about the HF product line and complete all Academy videos
    • Ensuring Members are aware of promotional plans and specials 
    • Collaborate on Sales Promotion ideas and support their execution
  • HFN Team Support and Communication
    • Post Slack notifications regarding new HF and Vendor products in the warehouse
    • Assist with the coordination of market visits for the team as needed
    • Support Members with scheduling training, seminars and support, including samples and Academy user set-up to increase awareness and purchasing.
    • Work as an integral part of the Business and Member Development team to create strategies and execute promotions and plans.
  • Data Analysis and Data Management
    • Use Business Central to identify HF product gaps for Members
    • Analyzing data to determine gaps in Member purchases and suggest strategies for growth  
    • Use HubSpot to capture Member notes and call outcomes
  • Customer Service
    • Provide excellent customer service to Members calling the support centre
    • Assist Members from time to time with phone Orders and credits
    • Support the Onboarding process with new Members
    • Liaise weekly with the Operations team to confirm out-of-stock status/updates on stock levels/new items in the warehouse
    • Capture call data in HubSpot CRM

Competencies: 

  • Technical Skills – Ability to use Microsoft 365 (especially MS Excel for Managing product stock), Hubspot and Business Central.
  • Strong Market Knowledge in the Natural Health Sector – Nutrition education with natural health product formulating experience preferred. Strong knowledge of natural health categories, competition, products, product claims, raw materials and their synergies, and regulatory environment.  
  • Creative Skills – Ability to develop new ideas to build on Member relationships and knowledge of products.
  • Organizational Skills – Strong ability to keep track of timelines and deadlines to launch products and promotional initiatives on time.
  • Communication Skills – Ability to communicate technical information concisely to internal staff and Health First Members, as well as manage communications with manufacturing partners.

Skills, Qualifications and Track Record: 

Must-haves

  • B2B Sales experience – and the ability to sell & influence
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills. Open, approachable personality. Demonstrated ability to establish and build positive working relationships
  • Proficient with computers; Outlook, Excel
  • Able to represent Health First Network in a positive, professional manner
  • Solid written & oral communications skills.  Active listener
  • High integrity & honesty
  • Solid business acumen, ability to read Member data and analyze gaps
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual (English, French)
  • Experience working with NHP & Organics retailers; retail store experience is ideal
  • Understanding of Business Central

Compensation Package:

  • Financials:
    • Annual salary plus a comprehensive Benefits package, health, dental, vision, life insurance, long-term disability, dependent life insurance, accidental death & dismemberment insurance, employee assistance program (counselling and advisory services)
    • Bonus at year-end. 
  • Work Hours:
    • 37.5 hours per week.
    • Standard company hours are 9 am – 5 pm EST with Core Hours being 10 am – 3 pm.  Hours for this position are flexible.
    • 15 vacation days (notice required) and 3 paid sick days per year.
  • Location:
    • Remote and HFN office and Warehouse with some travel to trade shows and events as required to interact with Members.  
  • Important Dates:
    • The start date is as soon as possible. 
    • Benefits start after 90 days of employment for full-time permanent employees.
