Xenoestrogens: What Are They?
Do you know the term xenoestrogen? These are essentially synthetic estrogens that surround us in our daily lives to cause us to have excessive estrogen in our system. Xenoestrogens are everywhere from our soap, shampoo, cosmetics, cleaning products, pesticides, plastics, and most importantly in HRTs (hormone replacement therapy) and birth control pills.
The result of so much excessive exposure to synthetic estrogens is estrogen dominance. Estrogen dominance is responsible for increased PMS-related symptoms, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and various cancers – such as breast and ovarian.
Hormones such as estrogen must pass through our liver in order to be broken down to be utilized in our systems. Xenoestrogens, however, cause our livers to work overtime in order to filter the damaging by-products, resulting in a lot of unnecessary stress on one of the body’s hardest working organs.
There are things you can do to eliminate some of the environmental xenoestrogens that cause this hormone overload. Try to opt for personal hygiene products that are paraben free and eliminate as much plastic as possible in your household. Sandwich containers and plastic water bottles are some of the biggest culprits in our daily lives, and of course, there are other great reasons to try to reduce our usage of such items from an environmental standpoint.
You can also eat healthy, organic, homemade foods and choose more fresh fruits and vegetables over pre-prepared or boxed foods that contain more than their fair share of additives and chemicals. Berries, dark green vegetables, nuts, avocados, fish, and (unheated) olive oil are great choices.
A great supplement you can add to support estrogen and balance your hormones is WomenSense® EstroSense®. This product can help support and promote healthy estrogen balance as well as contributes to reduce the symptoms of estrogen dominance. EstroSense is an exclusive formula containing all-natural ingredients to help maintain healthy hormone balance along with ingredients such as D-glucarate, turmeric extract, rosemary extract, and milk thistle seed extract. It is the ideal hormonal health partner for women suffering from the symptoms of hormonal imbalance.
Milk thistle is a well-researched botanical extract that contains potent antioxidants that protect liver cells from free radical damage and support detoxification pathways. Calcium D-glucarate, indole-3-carbinol, and sulforaphane help the liver metabolize excess estrogens from the body. Green tea extract has been shown to reduce excess testosterone levels and to control high levels of insulin. It is also a potent antioxidant along with lycopene and rosemary extract. Antioxidants help bind onto free radicals during the detoxification of harmful substances, thus protecting the body from environmental insult.
By eliminating many of the excess toxins and xenoestrogens that enter our systems, we can better support our liver and hormone health. Along with a healthy lifestyle, including exercise and proper night’s rest, you can help improve your hormone health.
